Difference Between “Reserved” and “Non-Reserved” Monthly Pass Parking in Malaysia

Last Updated on December 21, 2024 by Parking Malaysia

Monthly pass parking or sometimes called as “season pass” are car parking which you can rent for yourself for the whole month at a parking lot / parking facility.

Not only it avoids the hassle of having to tediously pay for parking day in and day out, it’s also a much cost-effective solution. For instance, Parking A offers RM6 for full day parking and RM100 for monthly pass:

RM6 x 20 days = RM120 as opposed to RM100 for 20 days or more (if you include the weekends).

Note: Application fee and refundable deposit not included yet in that RM100. Application fee typically cost RM30 and there’s RM100 deposit that will be fully returned when you decide to discontinue it.

It is a common choice for office goers mainly because of the following reasons:

  • Cost-effective
  • One-time payment
  • Convenient (access card provided for smooth entry and exit)
  • Allows leaving and returning the parking facility as many times as they need

However, a monthly pass parking still does not guarantee a parking spot for you at the parking facility. But you can have that peace of mind with “Reserved” monthly pass parking.

That brings us to our point of the topic. There are two types of monthly pass parking, Reserved and Non-Reserved.

What’s Reserved monthly pass parking

Reserved parking is a type of monthly pass parking that gets you a fixed parking spot at a car park. When you see a car park with a plate number markings on it, that’s a “Reserved” parking.

These types of parking are more expensive than Non-Reserved ones. For instance, Parking A offers RM100 for Non-Reserved monthly pass but RM250 for Reserved.

What’s Non-Reserved monthly pass parking

Non-Reserved monthly pass parkings gives you the freedom to park anywhere you want at the parking facility. There’s no special parking for you. The downside is if the parking is full, then you’re doomed.
